Dental Cleanings

Regular dental care is essential to your pet’s health and well being. Our veterinarians will determine if your pet’s mouth needs professional attention during a routine physical exam. Dental cleanings are preformed under general anesthesia in order to allow for a thorough oral examination, cleaning with an ultrasonic scaler and polishing. We utilize digital dental radiography to visualize under the gum line and further determine the health of the teeth.

Microchipping

Every year, thousands and thousands of pets get lost. Owners struggle with the devastation of not being able to find their beloved pets. They may look for them until they lose hope, which is an awful feeling. Unfortunately, this happens more often than it should.

There is one way to stop the vicious cycle. Microchip your pets so you don’t have to worry about losing them and not being able to find them again.

Here at Combs Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to offer microchipping. We believe it is the best way to keep pets home and safe. The procedure is safe and relatively painless. It involves inserting a tiny chip under the pet’s skin. It is pretty quick.

Once a microchip is implanted, we urge all owners to register their information so, if their pet is lost, they can be found. Veterinarians and shelters scan all lost pets to try to match them back up with their owners.

Save yourself the heartache and stress of a lost pet. Microchips bring pets home.

Stem Cell Therapy

We offer Stem Cell Therapy as a less invasive method to manage arthritis and other chronic conditions. Stem cells are harvested here in clinic from your pet’s own fat deposits, and then are processed to viable stem cells to promote healing and reduce inflammation and pain.

We are the only clinic in greater Bloomington offering this revolutionary treatment. Please visit www.medivetbiologics.com for more information on this process.

Surgery

When it’s your pet, you want to be certain they are in the best hands available.

We are proud to offer routine or emergency surgery. We utilize a laser in surgery. Laser surgery is more efficient, causes less bleeding and swelling.

Our veterinarians perform a wide range of surgical procedures, from spays and neuters to complicated orthopedics.

We have made the decision to become a Paw-friendly Practice and have discontinued declaw surgeries unless they are deemed medically necessary. We feel this is in the best interest of our feline patients. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or need suggestions to help live in harmony with your cat’s claws.

Take diagnostics to the next level by getting immediate feedback without invasive means. Ultrasound provides a live motion picture of your pet’s organs that would otherwise not be viewed through more traditional tools.

Vaccinations

Keep your pets legal and keep them up to date. Indiana law requires that all pets over the age of 12 weeks be vaccinated against Rabies. We offer both 1 year and 3 year Rabies vaccines. In addition to Rabies, there are other “core” vaccines that we feel all healthy dogs should have. Distemper and Parvo vaccines are also offered every 3 years. Lyme disease and Leptospirosis are 2 other disease that we try to make our clients aware of that are in our area. There are 1 year vaccines available for these diseases.

If your dog is social and goes to social places like the groomer, daycare, etc. We would encourage you to consider vaccinating against Kennel Cough and Canine Influenza.

Cats should be vaccinated with an upper respiratory complex as their “core” vaccines. If your cat is exposed to the outdoors we would encourage you to consider vaccinating against feline leukemia virus.

Leptospirosis is becoming more and more prevalent in Monroe County and surrounding areas. We have seen several patients in the last 5 years with this devastating disease.

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic bacterial disease; meaning it is transmissible to humans. It spreads through urine of infected animals and lives in water such as streams, lakes, rivers, puddles, and also moist soil.

Signs include flu-like symptoms such as fever, decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, weakness, and lethargy. In the most severe cases, Leptospirosis can lead to kidney and/or liver failure, and death.

Luckily, there is a vaccination for this disease. We’ve offered it for several years and have recommended it for animals that may be at risk, but are now recommending it for all.

Lyme disease, spread by ticks, is becoming much more prevalent in Monroe County.  We recommend annual vaccination for this disease; especially if your pet has exposure to ticks in its lifestyle.
